Chris Wright’s Bio & Acknowledgements

My Background and Acknowledgements

I began my spiritual experience when upon graduating from high school in 1968 I flew across country to Los Angeles to learn Transcendental Meditation (TM) technique.

The experience of effortless transcending into Silence changed my life. I went on to graduate with two Master degrees. I also studied with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi for five months to became a teacher of TM in 1970.

Then every year I would go for long meditation periods around the US, in Switzerland, France, and many personal silent retreats in India at Amma’s (The Hugging Saint) large ashram on the oceanfront in Kerala.

I became a faculty member at Maharishi International University in Fairfield, Iowa in 1976. With a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology, I  founded The Human Relations Institute in Houston, Texas where I was for ten years working with wonderful Rebecca Rehmeyer. It was there that I was introduced to the Personality Enneagram from my friend Dave Elmers during a Houston Rockets – Los Angeles Lakers basketball game.

During all of those years I taught seminars and workshops around the country. Later I moved to Washington, D.C. to become the Director of PAIRS International, a training program for therapists in couples skills. And since 1996 I have been in private practice and workshops.

In these that I teach and the books I have written, all gratitude for the thousands of clients and couples who over all of these years graciously opened up and shared their inner world of discoveries that form the basis for this work. And for Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and Amma who provided the framework and experience of pure consciousness that led to my spiritual realizations that generated the clarity in this work.
